Panoramic view at Breakaways Conservation Park and Kanku National Park. The hospitality of the bride's mother in allowing guests to explore her exceptional dugout accommodation is exceptional. Awesome huge dugout, with many artistic displays

Our favourite place for dining was the Big Winch 360 with a wide variety on the menu. The food was delicious too. Our favourite places were the Breakaways which we visited twice in our three days stay. This was by far the highlight of our visit. We also visited the following exciting places: 1. Underground Serbian Ortgodox church 2. Underground Catholic Church 3. Old Timers Mine 4. Umoona Opal Mine and Museum It is very easy to get around Coober Pedy

8 Underground experience for families.
Underground experience for families. Both self guided & guided mine tours available according to budget. Tom’s working mine tour is a must for families with kids. Enjoyed 360 sunset dinner. Be prepared to handle friendly flies…

10 We had a great tour with Noble Tours.
We had a great tour with Noble Tours. Very informative, different locations, spectacular views. Our Wrightsair trip to Painted Hills, Lake Eyre and William Creek was amazing, mind blowing. Outback Bar and Grill - a roadhouse with delicious food breakfast, lunch or early dinner. The staff very friendly and accommodating. 360 Winch restaurant was great for a lazy Sunday afternoon lunch and drink. We walked to a few of the sights in town eg Umoona Mine and Opalis, plus the IGA.

It's a town that you can't see enough of in one day but I wouldn't spend more than a couple of nights. There is so much local history to soak up and a bounty of tours and attractions. I highly recommend John's Pizza Bar for food and the Old Timers Mine for a good experience of mining and 'dugout' living. The Breakaways were closed due to rain during our visit, so we only checked out the Moon Plain and the Dog fence. The town is easy enough to navigate with some of the smaller roads feeling very informal.

It looked as though it was built in the 50's and no one has bothered to do anything since. Everything looks drab and uncared for. There was one relatively new looking accommodation, but the rest looked ordinary. Surprised by how many tourists were there. Wondered if I was missing something but I could not find it. I went on some advice to try an underground hotel which I did. Overall expensive accommodation. My advice would be to bypass it.
