our stay in Halls Gaps was primarily for a wedding we come from approx an hours drive down the road but spending a bit of extra time here allowed us to check out a couple of things in the Grampians that I had not seen before but have wanted to see for years.

10 Amazing small town with stunning views. Quiet.
Amazing small town with stunning views. Quiet. Easy to walk everywhere and safe. Magnificent gelato. Tasty Brewery. Delicious food at reasonable prices at Kookaburra Hotel. Fish and chips, pizza and Flame Bros Restaurant and Bar. Need to book on long weekends. Shady caravan park in heart of town. Wildlife galore with kangaroos, cockatoos, ducks and parrots coming out late afternoon. Short bushwalking from Main Street and longer hikes on a drive to McKenzie Falls. Very relaxing with stunning views. Great Halls Gap Zoo with cheetahs, giraffes, rhino, crocodile, red pandas plus lots parrots and animals to hand feed and more. Shady zoo so great on a warm day and just a ten minute ride out of Halls Gap. You will leave Halls Gap feeling relaxed and in awe of nature.

Halls Gap is a great place to stay and explore but I would not stay at The Grand Hotel. There are lots of beautiful walks and nature. The walk to Mount William although steep it’s on a made road and is well worth it for the stunning views Make sure you dine early as most places close by 8pm. We got a great meal from The Spirit of Punjab Indian Restaurant.

Set in the western highlands of Victoria, Halls Gap has something for almost everyone all year round. Rock climbing has had restrictions placed in recent times but walkers have an abundance of tracks. The scenery is breathtaking in and around the area. Just perfect for the en plein air painter as well.

10 A long weekend was enjoyed.
A long weekend was enjoyed. We had all seasons, so enjoyed the Brewery on a lovely balmy late afternoon/evening. The food was excellent. Recommend the Barra Bites, Chicken Wings & Haloumi Chips! We also ate at the Halls Gap Hotel, a lovely setting just out of town, but definitely book if you want to be inside. Fish & Chips were also enjoyed, after walking to The Pinnacle & McKenzie Falls, in less than perfect weather. We walked to The Pinnacle from the car park, (about 2.1km one way), over many rocks, & uneven pathway, very challenging & testing for these 68 yr old legs, in rain & strong wind, but we made it! The Falls were definitely worth the many stairs to view also. Both car parks have bathroom facilities.

10 Perfect in all ways.
Perfect in all ways. Comfortable, spotlessly clean, roomy and well provided cabin set in immaculately kept grounds with an inviting, warm swimming pool. Amiable host. Visiting kangaroos, emus and birds a real bonus. Well located. Close enough to the town centre but far enough oout to be quiet and peaceful. Had we known how good it was we would have booked to stay longer.
