If you are a wine lover, there are many wineries to visit here. For those who like other things, there are quirky towns to visit, many beautiful beaches, several different caves and the wild bird sanctuary, just to name a few. There are some great restaurants and cafes to choose from and a fabulous lollie shop in Cowaramup, which is close to Margaret River.

A lovely town and a great base for other exploration of the area around. Our highlight was a day with Shaun and The Margaret River Discovery Co exploring the area with him, including a canoe on the Margaret River, a winery visit and seeing the Coast from the Cape to Cape track. He filled us with stories and information and great suggestions for subsequent days.

Margaret River is a lovely town in a spectacular region of Australia. I really appreciated the surrounding natural environment, including walks through the bushland and along the river - especially in Spring as the wildflowers are in bloom. The town itself is easy to get around and park and has a good selection of local shops and facilities, plus surrounding wineries and the Margaret River Brewery (great mussels and beer). The Margaret River Farmers Market has some great local produce and bakery treats too. We also hired bikes and rode the rail trail up to Cowaramup (shout out to the Hairy Marron bike hire guys) and visited the Margaret River Maze (Amaze'n) just out of town which was surprisingly lots of fun. And all within easy access to the local coastline and beaches. All in all we loved our time in Margaret River and could have stayed longer if we had more time.

10 Love this place.
Love this place. The restaurants and cafes, shops and bars are fabulous. I love that it has a main high street that hasn't become like a busy suburb and you can still see the leafy tree surrounds. It is casual, calming and rustic. Please keep it 'untouched' so that it doesn't turn into another busy Dunsborough-type.

We found the town to be a pleasant place to visit, with facilities easily available to meet our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals we had at the Settlers and River hotels, We attempted to visit a couple of restaurants but could not find details of just when they would be open and in both cases even an early evening visit didn't show any signs of them being open and ready for people to come in - we found this a bit disappointing.

It is always a pleasure to be in Margaret River town and the area. The scenery is beautiful and there are plenty of outdoor activities, including many bushwalks and hikes of different lengths and difficulty.
