Adelaide: Australia's Undiscovered Gem

Scratch the surface of Australia’s undiscovered gem with its blend of wonderful beaches, wide boulevards and extensive parklands including the Adelaide Botanic Garden. The City of Churches chimes to the beat during festival season with the Adelaide Festival of Arts, Adelaide Fringe and WOMADelaide.

The Torrens River flows through the city from the surrounding Mount Lofty Ranges. The Adelaide Hills features The Cleland Conservation Park that includes a wildlife park where you can pat koalas and Mount Lofty Summit with its panoramic views of the city. Hahndorf, with its German history, is another highlight.

The coast has some fantastic beaches, with historic Glenelg as a favorite local playground, while further south are the shores of Aldinga where you can drive your car onto the beach.

There are few better multicultural markets than the Adelaide Central Market, or choose from lots of museums and art galleries, some with free entry. The picturesque and historic Adelaide Oval is a favorite for sports lovers.

Sydney Tourism has accommodations in the city, or visit surrounding areas like the Barossa Valley, Flinders Ranges and Kangaroo Island.

10 I am biased about Adelaide.
I am biased about Adelaide. I love Adelaide's not so busy environment. The beaches are beautiful even if you dont want to swim. Our jettys are great for fishing or for that lovely evening stroll. It does get very hot in Summer sometimes so Slip Slop Slap. The Adelaide hills have so much to offer in the way of small communities. Mount Lofty offers some beautiful views and short or long walks. There are many many walks available in and around Adelaide. You must visit the Botanical Gardens in the city. The Barossa Valley region is also available for wine lovers or just for a enjoyable ride/drive. Its not that far to travel by car. Ha Ha I would avoid the casino next time as I lost my money) My fault. Enjoy you will be glad you did.

10 Adelaide is an amazing place to visit.
Adelaide is an amazing place to visit. Especially Glenelg Beach. The atmosphere is fantastic. So many great shops, bars, and cafes. The beach is fantastic and it is a great spot for any traveller as well as families.

8 Adelaide can be summed up in one word, it is nice.
Adelaide can be summed up in one word, it is nice. It is very easy to get to the beaches using public transport. The long sand strand is vast with few people. You would need a car to explore the great wineries and the restaurants within 25 to 100 km, as well as Cleveland National Park. If you have time, visit Kangaroo Island. There are many good Asian restaurants within Adelaide city and the adjourning suburbs at affordable prices. For foodies, try modern Australian food in the higher end restaurants located in the Mclaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Clare Valley, as part of the food and wine experience. They are much better value for money than those in the CBD, and better price than in Europe. Check the Good Food Guide to get an idea of quality. If you are interested in wine tasting, choose those cellar doors that offer structured wine tasting. They are professionally run and the cost is often reimbursed upon purchase of wines.

Wonderful city and this hotel is well placed to enjoy the festivals, cricket ground, parks, shopping and the famous Hindley Street nightlife.. All these venues and much more at your door step and within walking distance. The hotel entry is on Gilbert Place so don't forget to try the famous Pancakes Kitchen. I was there to catch up with family so Adelaide is always fun for me.
