Newcastle is easy to get around and parking is also easy most of the time. It sits on the a the entry way of the Hunter River and has large vessels moving in and out, which makes it interesting. A number of patrolled beaches to swim at and plenty of restaurants and interesting bars. I love the Olive Tree Markets once a month at Civic Park.

8 Newcastle is a nice city.
Newcastle is a nice city. It was just the accommodation we had, which was terrible. Only redeeming feature was the car parking. The things they told you about their property are not really true. Not a plate or breakfast bowl in our room. No knife or dessert spoons. Not even two glasses the same.

It is a quiet restful city with beautiful scenery along the river. Good train links to Sydney, bus links to Nelson Bay and shopping precincts. Light rail from station along main promenade-excellent service. Lots of restaurants, cafés etc. Friendly locals always ready to help the traveller.

I stayed for 2 nights but would definitely return for at least a week. So many little cafes and restaurants and bars but also nice walks around the harbour and town and plenty of day trips/drives from Newcastle eg Morpeth, Nelson Bay, Hunter Valley, The Entrance etc.

Amazing food and dining scene - always something new to do in Newcastle! Commonwealth hotel has a coeliac friendly kitchen. Rogue Scholar is always a good time with their beers. The tram makes life just a little easier on the "tourist" drag

10 Newcastle is geat.
Newcastle is geat. There is free public transport in the inner city area and so many cafes and restaurants. We went to Humbug and had an incredibly good meal. We also visited the dock area around Queens Wharf and had lunch with a killer view at a very reasonable price. At night time the place is jumping with live music. The beaches are clean and beautiful. We are coming back for a longer stay.
